When did I become worthy of protection? If you find it difficult to comply with my rules and your Saturday evening spanking, I will need to use the belt again, Josey. I applaud your courage wiring this. We are looking at other options. This post is not against spanking.
Please STOP Spanking Babies And Toddlers
I have a son with definite sensory issues. I would save spanking for the times when no other method of punishment seems to work. So your child shouldn't get any attention from you while in a timeout — including talking, eye contact, etc. I love him dearly, I do but parenting him has been hard. I recommend this TED talk in regards to that topic: It will help…ignoring it will only allow it to worsen.

Your son sounds exactly like my 9 year old son!! Any child, any personality, any medical diagnosis. She also discusses autism, asbergers, and ADHD among other disorders. I have noticed that he's less defiant, more sweet and less violent towards me and his sister. He threw tantrums, again, wherever it hit him to do so.
She was a strong willed child that I found difficult to control till I learned it was not about controlling her but about teaching her self control and co-operation. Timeouts also can work well for kids at this age. I totally understand this article…my granddaughter from a very young age would scream when around crowds…or was hot. My whole life, I agreed with spankings and time outs…. In the opinion of the American Pediatric Association and the American Psychological Association, physical punishment should not be used against a child because countless studies show that while it may be effective in the short run, in the long run, it causes more problems than it solves.
